Terry Huizing – Adjunct Curator of Mineralogy, Cincinnati Museum Center – “Why Would Anyone Collect Calcite? It’s so Common!”

May 11, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

It is not too often that I volunteer to give a talk to the Cincinnati Mineral Society; I’m typically arranging for someone else to provide the program. This will be an expanded “test run” for a brand new presentation at an out-of- town venue. I think you will like it!

Although the mineral calcite is very common – particularly in the carbonate rocks of the Midwestern United States – is also beautiful and generally value-priced compared with so many other collectible species. This presentation is designed to provide tips and advice for any collector on how to create a noteworthy collection of calcite, or any other mineral. I’m happy to share my personal collecting experiences with you while showing slides of beautiful and interesting specimens.

Guests are most welcome at our meetings. This program will be great for folks of every age and experience level.
