Ken Bladh is perhaps best known to collectors and the scientific mineral community as one of four authors of the impressive five-volume Handbook of Mineralogy, a compilation of all data for known mineral species at the time of publication. Ken is also known in the collector community for his varied interests in specimen mineralogy. You may also recall that he provided a nice exhibit of minerals and fossils from Wittenberg University at GeoFair 2015.
Reflecting interests from his student years spent partially in Tucson, Ken has prepared a PowerPoint presentation of the classic minerals found in Arizona to share with us. He will also bring several hand-sized specimens to show at our meeting. Ken wrote an article on this subject that appeared in the January / February 2012 Arizona issue of Rocks & Minerals, copies of which will be available for purchase (and autograph) at the meeting (see Elizabeth O’Brien).
This will be our first meeting after the summer break and as always, the public is invited to attend. The program will be for all ages and knowledge levels. Because I will be attending the Denver Show, Elizabeth O’Brien will introduce our speaker.
